Classics Kit

In 2002, even before this blog started, I released my first software project while I was in school at Dallas Theological Seminary. Jeremy, Kris, and I created a tutorial project called KoineWorks Diagramming, a guided tutorial on how to diagram Koine Greek. When we started I knew nothing about software development, but I picked up Macromedia Authorware and did the Greek parts. The other guys handled the rest. We sold it for a little while, made a little money, then shut down the company after a bit. I will always be grateful for the help of Jeremy and Kris on that project and how it shaped my career.

That project got me into Flash and then into C#, which launched my career as a software developer. Since then I've grown in many ways, and now it's time to start a new product. Though I have been building software for others since then, I haven't sold any myself. This changes in 2025.

Classics Kit

Classics Kit is a platform that supports learning historical languages (starting with Greek and Latin) that embodies both what I have learned about language acquisition through studying relevant literature and what I have learned through various teachers and courses in living ancient Greek and Latin communities. It will also be built to support teachers, independent and otherwise, in their efforts. Twenty-two years has taught me a great deal and much changed in me. It is time, once again, to make something for this community that loves what I love.

More to come this upcoming Monday. Expect posts here about the platform, second-language acquisition research, and other content related to these languages.

If you are interested in talking, I am easy to find. Contact me. Whether you are a teacher or a learner, I would love to hear from you. Or, if you prefer, you can put your email in below and I will make sure you get all relevant news.
